CoolSculpting & Zerona – Love-Handle Reducers FDA Approval – Two new procedures have been approved the the FDA, which look set to be more affordable, less invasive and safer alternatives to liposuction.
Currently, around 200,000 Americans a year go under the knife to have their love handles and excess fat removed. Liposuction is rather costly, and it is a surgery which may have risks for certain people. The two newly approved procedures don’t require surgery.
One is called CoolSculpting, by Zeltiq. What this does is it freezes away the fat cells, which in turn destroys them. This is most effective on women, in the areas of the lower back, love handles and the little ‘pooch’ area on the lower stomach. The procedure takes about one to three hours, depending on size and area. The patient can remain awake through the procedure. Result can usually be seen in three weeks, as the fat cells self destruct over time.
The second procedure is Zerona, by Erchonia. This uses low-level lasers to liquefy fat, which then in turn makes the fat cells become smaller, shrinking your waistline away. This procedure hits the waist, hips and thighs. There is little to no heat sensation, and it takes around 40 minutes for the procedure to take place. After having the procedure done 4 to 6 times, the result will be noticeable.
