Egg Recall List Expanded:FDA Recalls 380 Million Eggs – Salmonella Eggs – Egg recall list expands. Check your eggs again. The egg recall list has expanded.
If you are worried that you may have purchased some infected eggs, now is the time to check as a number of companies have been both added and removed from the list of eggs that may or may not contain a deadly strain of salmonella.
The Iowa company that is responsible for the nationwide egg recall has drastically expanded the list. Federal officials have also released a statement, asking individuals to get rid of any eggs that are named in the recall.
Officials at Wright County Egg have made a number of changes to the list. They ask individuals to look at the carton, and if the number is P1720 or P1942, look carefully at the three digit numbers that follow it. If the three digit number falls between 136 and 229, then the eggs are part of the recall. If you are checking your eggs for the first time, remember to look for the numbers from the original recall, which include P1026, P1413 and P1946.
Company officials have asked that individuals who purchased the tainted eggs take them back to the store for a refund. The announcement came on Wednesday by the Right County Egg officials. The contamination could affect as many as 380 million eggs that were sold in the US. The eggs were also sold in bulk to companies to use for events and in restaurants.
“Our primary concern is keeping Salmonella out of the food supply and away from consumers,” the company said.
