Some research suggests that menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats can actually be a blessing in disguise for women who are going through “the change”.
Women who are just starting to go through menopause apparently have a significantly less risk of heart problems than women who have not yet gone through the change.
Although scientists are not yet able to explain why these specific women are able to avoid heart-related problems, it is in fact what the studies point to.
Hot flashes and night sweats are two of the most common symptoms which women who are experiencing menopause for the first time go through.
The study’s leader Dr Emily Szmuilowicz, from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago said:
“We found that women who experienced symptoms when they began menopause had fewer cardiovascular events than those who experienced hot flashes late in menopause or not at all,”
Even though these symptoms hardly feel like a blessing for most women, according to scientists they can actually be a good thing.
Women who have already gone through menopause are more vulnerable to cardiovascular problems and are much more likely to have heart attacks than those women who are just starting to go through it. T
