At one time Derrick Burts who is now a renowned porn star did magic to make a living, but he said that it interfered with his family life too much.
He recently told the Los Angeles Times that after constantly going on cruises and being away from everybody that he loved, it started to take a toll on him.
Burts soon became an office supervisor at a local Marriot Hotel in California – but that did not last very long. After answering an ad for male performers, Burt’s career in the adult film industry started to take off.
He quickly signed on with OC Modeling Agency and said that they told him he had the right face for porn and he just went for it.
When he started doing porn he was tested for STDs and was negative, that quickly changed.During the first month in his new job, he contracted herpes, Chlamydia, and gonorrhea. After talking to his agent Phil Mack, he encouraged Burts to keep going in the industry.
A month later in early October Burts found out that he was HIV positive after getting an examination at a local medical center that claimed at the time that he had acquired it through personal intercourse. According to Burts, getting the news was the single most frightening experience of his life.
He went on to say:
“There is no possible way. The only person I had sex with in my personal life was my girlfriend,”
